But if you are considering a landscaping project for your small desert-themed backyard, here are some desert-themed backyard ideas that you might want to consider:

o A simple way to incorporate the desert-themed landscaping ideas into your backyard is by using cacti. Aside from making your yard look more authentic, you can have these plants hanging off of walls and even on fences. Cacti do make attractive garden decorations especially if you plant them in small groups.

o You can also use artificial turf as one of your desert-themed backyard ideas landscaping ideas. You can put these artificial turfs on top of your flower beds or even along portions of your fence. The cool thing about artificial turf is that it does not require that much maintenance. Unlike with cacti, you would not need to regularly water your artificial turf to keep it looking great.

o You can add a small barbeque pit right in your yard. This would be a great place to entertain your family and friends especially when they come over for drinks. Not only can this make your landscaping idea into a successful venture, but it can be very convenient to you as well since you don’t have to go far to find a place for grilling out. Just throw your grill into the pit, set up the steaks and get ready to bond with your neighborhood.

o You can incorporate other desert-themed backyard ideas like an outbuilding in your yard. This is great especially if you’re planning to build an outdoor shed. With an outbuilding, you can include extra shelves and cabinets where you can store all your tools and other accessories that are needed during your projects. You can also consider using small benches around the outer perimeter of your outbuilding to give it a more natural look.

o If you don’t have the space or time to build your own outdoor shed, then you can always settle for an old lawn tractor. There are actually plenty of used tractors that are available on the market, and there are some who even sell good ones that you can purchase and resell. This would be a great addition to your small desert backyard landscaping ideas because this device is actually very functional, efficient, and cheap.

o A water feature would be a nice addition to your backyard. With the increasing global awareness towards the environment and conservation of nature, you can actually make your own small water feature in your yard. This is actually very easy to do with a few simple materials that you can buy from your local home improvement store. All you would need are stones, bricks, and plastic plants to make the reservoir. After which, you can fill up the reservoir with water and let it spill out on the ground to provide moisture for the plants.

These are just a few desert-themed backyard ideas for your landscaping project. You can actually do a lot with these simple items. Just ensure that you have a great layout plan, a good landscape architect to help you with your design, and plenty of money for materials and fees for your job.
